CVEC Hosts Blood Drive, CHAP Screening

TALLADEGA, Ala. - Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative will host a blood drive and a Community Health Awareness Program for blood screenings on Wednesday, July 11.

The blood drive will be held in cooperation with the North Talladega County Chapter of the American Red Cross from 7 a.m. until noon.

The CHAP screenings will start at 7:30 a.m. and finish at 10:30 a.m. with the help of personnel from Citizens Baptist Medical Center.

CHAP screenings will include tests for cholesterol, triglycerides, potassium, liver enzymes and glucose among others. There is no charge for the screenings for CVEC members 65 and older. CVEC members 64 and younger pay $5, and nonmembers pay $7.

"We hope that everybody in the community will come out and support this worthwhile effort," said Frank Kujawski, CVEC general manager. "It's an opportunity for people to have their blood screened and, if they can, provide the gift of life to somebody else."
