CVEC Mourns Death of Director

TALLADEGA, Ala. - Harlie Lewis Moore, representative for Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative District 4, died April 12.

A memorial service for Mr. Moore, 63, was held April 20 at St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church in Pell City with Father Van Foreman officiating.

Mr. Moore served on the Board of Directors of CVEC as representative for District 4 for 18 years.

"Mr. Moore will be missed. His leadership helped steer the cooperative through many tough times and his contributions helped the board make the decisions necessary to keep the cooperative operating," said Frank Kujawski, CVEC general manager.

He was a past president of the Welborn Athletic Association, was a native of Anniston and was in the Boy Scouts when growing up where he earned the honor of Eagle Scout. He served four years in the Air Force and was a 1957 graduate of Welborn High School, which was the first graduating class of Welborn High School. He was a member of St. Peter Episcopal Church in Talladega, was a graduate of Gadsden State Community College and was retired from Anniston Army Depot with more than 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Starr Moore; three brothers, Mike Moore of Anniston, Charles (Doc) Moore of Lompoc, Calif., and Doyle (Butter) Moore of Anniston and two sisters, Geraldine Wright of Lincoln and Charlotte Joiner of Anniston. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that those wishing to can make donations to either the American Heart Association or the Humane Society.

The remaining CVEC Board members served as honorary pallbearers.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City directed the service.

Coosa Valley Electric, which serves more than 15,000 customers in Talladega, St. Clair, Shelby, Clay, Etowah and Calhoun counties, is a Touchstone Energy7 cooperative. Nationwide, some 1,000 cooperatives provide power to rural America, and 570 of those operate under the Touchstone Energy umbrella.
