CVEC to Offer Health Screenings

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative plans to offer blood screenings on Wednesday, January 7, 2004, through the Community Health Awareness Program in cooperation with Baptist Citizens Medical Center in Talladega.

The CHAP screenings will start at 8 a.m. and finish at 10:30 a.m.

CHAP screenings include tests for cholesterol, triglycerides, potassium, liver enzymes and glucose, among others. There is no charge for the screenings for CVEC members 65 and older. CVEC members 64 and younger pay $5, and nonmembers pay $7.

"We urge everybody who can make it will take advantage of this service," said Frank Kujawski, CVEC general manager. "It’s affordable, and the results are confidential."

Coosa Valley Electric, which serves more than 15,000 consumers in Calhoun, Clay, Shelby, St. Clair and Talladega counties, is a Touchstone Energy® cooperative. Nationwide, some 1,000 cooperatives provide power to rural America, and more than 600 of those operate under the Touchstone Energy umbrella.
