800 CVEC Consumers Lose Power
TALLADEGA, Ala. – Some 800 Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative consumers
living in southern Talladega County in and around the Alpine community lost
power Thursday afternoon.
The cooperative’s first major outage in more than a year started about
3 p.m. when wind knocked down a feeder line from the Talladega substation. Areas
affected by the outage include Alpine and services along Alabama 21, Barkley
Road, Bullocks Ferry Road, Church Road, Grist Mill Road, New Maryland Road, Papertown
Road and Terra Lane, as well as several others.
Crews dispatched to site at approximately 3:05 p.m. and began work correcting
the problem.
Coosa Valley Electric, which serves more than 15,000 customers in Talladega,
St. Clair, Shelby, Clay, Etowah and Calhoun counties, is a Touchstone Energy® cooperative.
Nationwide, some 1,000 cooperatives provide power to rural America, and 570 of
those operate under the Touchstone Energy umbrella.
