CVEC Restores Power to Consumers in Ohatchee Area

TALLADEGA, Ala. –Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative quickly restored power to the more than consumers living in the Ohatchee who lost power Thursday afternoon.

The outage started at about 1:50 p.m. when problems with Alabama Power transmission lines knocked out power to CVEC’s Ohatchee substation. By 3:35 p.m., CVEC crews restored power to the substation and the consumers it feeds.

“We thank our consumers, especially those who rely on life-support devices or oxygen, for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience this temporary outage caused,” said Frank Kujawski, CVEC general manager.
While Coosa Valley Electric does not purchase power from Alabama Power, the cooperative does wheel power across Alabama Power transmission lines.

Coosa Valley Electric, which serves more than 15,500 customers in Talladega, St. Clair, Shelby, Clay, Etowah and Calhoun counties, is a Touchstone Energy® cooperative. Nationwide, some 1,000 cooperatives provide power to rural America, and more than 600 of those operate under the Touchstone Energy umbrella.
