Lights of Hope is a community assistance initiative started by Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative to support veterans and their families facing financial hardship, mental health challenges or the lasting impacts of military service.
Through partnership with Houston Project, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans, Lights of Hope provides direct utility bill assistance to qualifying veterans who are members of Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative or customers of Coosa Valley Propane. Financial assistance is applied directly to the member’s utility account to help ensure that homes stay warm, lights stay on and families have one less worry during difficult times.
Houston Project staff work directly with veterans to verify need, coordinate payment assistance and connect individuals with additional resources such as counseling services, financial support and other community programs.
Lights of Hope reflects Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative’s commitment to serving the communities where our members live and work. By partnering with Houston Project and the community, the program helps ensure that veterans and their families know they are supported, valued and never alone during life’s difficult moments.
