Marketing and Digital Media Specialist

A. Oversees online content for the cooperative and its subsidiaries, including websites, social media activities on all platforms and digital and online advertising.

B. Manages social media presence for the cooperative and its subsidiaries. This includes developing written content, photography, video, community outreach activities, monitoring and responding to member interactions, learning new social media platforms and developing appropriate uses for the cooperative.

C. Provides up-to-date information to members, customers, the public and the media during storm restoration or other emergency situations, and maintains open communication with Engineering & Operations and Dispatch, in coordination with the Manager of Marketing and Member Services and the Marketing, Energy Services and Events Specialist.

D. Assists with providing content for magazines, newsletters, brochures, pamphlets, advertising, Annual Meeting promotions and other printed publications.

E. Assists Marketing, Energy Services and Events Specialist with advertising and community events.

F. Participates in activities involving member education, community relations, civic/public organizations, educational programs and other meetings to promote good relations.

G. Supports Member Service Supervisor to ensure Member Service Representatives have necessary informational materials to promote all cooperative programs and services.

H. Supports Customer Service functions of subsidiary businesses to ensure representatives have necessary informational materials to promote all business programs and services.

I. Makes recommendations to and advises the department manager in the development of departmental goals, plans, budgets, and activities.

J. Attends and participates in Marketing and Member Services conferences and workshops.

K. Assists with the coordination of school Safety and Energy Efficiency education programs. Helps make decisions to accept or decline requests.

L. Attends and assists with community and membership meetings.

M. Assists with planning and setting up District Elections and Annual Meeting each year.

N. Assists with new programs developed as a department function.

O. Performs such other duties as required.

I. RELATIONSHIPS

A. Internal

1. All departments of the Cooperative – Work with employees to ensure the best member relations possible as well as understanding of programs and activities which are directed toward the accomplishment of goals and objectives of the Cooperative.

B. External

1. Members – Provides assistance to the members through effective communication of the Cooperative’s programs, policies and procedures.

Position Specifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, digital media or a related field.

EXPERIENCE: Prefer five years relevant experience.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Basic knowledge of marketing and advertising principles. Knowledge of digital marketing and advertising as well as social media marketing a plus.

COMPUTER

SKILLS: Proficient with computer software for word processing, spreadsheets, database, and internet browsers. Must be comfortable working in social media platforms on computers, tablets and mobile devices. Understanding of design, publishing, graphics design and photo-manipulation software.

ABILITIES

AND SKILLS: Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally information to employees, members, customers and the general public. Must have the ability to work with people of all economic and social backgrounds as well as all age groups and all races. Must be skilled in the areas of organization, planning and scheduling meetings and appointments with other people and groups. Must be able to lift objects weighing 30 pounds to waste-high level. Must be able to lift arms overhead and manipulate objects while doing so.

WORKING

CONDITIONS: Some travel within the service area; some travel outside the area for professional and educational meetings. Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. Must be able to work hours other than the normal 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Must have a valid Alabama driver’s license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
