President’s Report

Strong communities don’t happen by accident. They are built by people who invest in 1 another, support local businesses, and work together to create opportunities for future generations. For more than 85 years, CVEC has played a role in that mission. What began as a commitment to bring electricity to rural Alabama has grown into something much greater – a partnership built on trust, service, and a shared vision of progress.

Today, our commitment extends beyond electricity. Through Coosa Valley Technologies (CVT) and Coosa Valley Propane (CVP), we are helping power homes, businesses, and communities with essential services that support modern life. We are keeping the lights on, connecting families and businesses through high-speed internet, and providing dependable propane.

The value of local service at CVEC, CVT and CVP cannot be overstated. In a world increasingly dominated by large, distant corporations, our Cooperative family remains rooted in the communities we serve. The people answering the phones, responding to service calls, and supporting our operations are the same people you see at local events, schools, churches, and businesses. That local connection is 1 of our greatest strengths. When you have issues or are in need of services, we can respond quickly because we’re already here. Unlike companies headquartered many miles away, we understand the unique needs of our area and remain committed to delivering solutions that put our members, customers, and communities first.

Like other utilities and service providers, we face challenges. Economic pressures, evolving technologies and changing industry regulations require thoughtful planning and responsible leadership. Yet through every challenge, our commitment remains unchanged. Your CVEC Board of Trustees and employees continue to focus on providing safe, reliable, and affordable services while maintaining the high standards our members expect and deserve. We remain dedicated to operating in a manner that reflects the values of our Cooperative and the expectations of our membership.

As we look toward the future, our focus remains clear. We will continue investing in infrastructure, supporting innovation, and finding new ways to serve our members through electricity, broadband, and propane. Most importantly, we will continue fulfilling the promise that has defined our Cooperative for generations – being your trusted partner through challenges, opportunities and milestones.

Thank you for your continued trust and support of Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative. It is an honor to serve as your Board President. We remain committed to being your Partner in Power & Progress for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Marilyn Davis

Engineering & Operations

Strengthening System Reliability

Providing safe, reliable electric service remains at the heart of Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative’s mission. Throughout 2025, the Engineering and Operations Department continued making strategic investments in the Cooperative’s electric system to improve reliability, strengthen infrastructure, and prepare for future growth.

A continued emphasis on aggressive right-of-way maintenance, comprehensive pole inspections, and proactive infrastructure improvements resulted in measurable gains in overall system reliability. These ongoing eMorts help reduce outages, improve restoration times, and ensure members receive the dependable service they expect.

CVEC reached a significant milestone by breaking ground on Stemley Substation. Once completed, the facility will replace the aging Eureka Substation. The Stemley Substation will enhance long-term reliability and position the Cooperative to accommodate future transmission system improvements.

Additional reliability enhancements included implementing arc flash protection updates at every substation following the recommendations from a system-wide study in 2024. The Engineering and Operations Department also began conducting detailed sectionalizing studies at each substation and started implementing system improvements identified through those evaluations to further improve operational flexibility and outage response.

Work also continued on projects identified in CVEC’s four-year Construction Work Plan. These initiatives include line conversions, distribution system upgrades, and the construction of new tie lines designed to strengthen the electric system, improve reliability, and support the growing needs of the communities Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative serves.

Marketing & Member Services

Strengthening Connections, Supporting Growth

Throughout 2025, Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative’s Marketing and Member Services Department remained focused on strengthening relationships with members, supporting community growth, and enhancing the Cooperative’s reputation as a trusted, innovative, and community-minded organization.

The department expanded its community presence through extensive partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and civic groups. Through donations, sponsorships, educational initiatives, and resource support, Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative continued its commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities it serves.

Member engagement remained a top priority as department professionals provided digital, written, and in-person outreach to keep members informed about Cooperative programs, services, and industry developments.

Energy Services, which is a part of the Marketing and Member Services Department, continued to be a successful participant in PowerSouth’s Heath Pump Rebate Program. Since the program began in 2018, Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative has led all PowerSouth member organizations in total units rebated. More than 63% of all doublewide manufactured home rebates and 50% of all singlewide manufactured home rebates awarded statewide have gone to Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative members.

In all, 61 rebates were awarded to members, resulting in nearly $45,000 in rebates and incentives during 2025. These investments help members improve energy efficiency, reduce energy costs, and enhance comfort in their homes.

The Marketing and Member Services Department’s commitment to exceptional member service is evident every day through the work of the member service representatives. Serving as the first point of contact for many members, these employees provide prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable assistance while handling approximately 45,000 member calls during 2025. Their dedication to responsive service helped ensure members received timely support and reinforced the Cooperative’s commitment to putting members first.

Coosa Valley Technologies & Coosa Valley Propane

2025 was a year of significant growth and momentum for Coosa Valley Technologies. CVT successfully completed the grant-funded fiber expansion projects extending access to high-speed internet throughout the service area. These projects increased CVT’s network footprint and created the opportunity to serve more than 4,000 additional homes and businesses with reliable fiber broadband.

As the network grew, CVT remained focused on providing greater value to customers. In 2025, the 2 Gig internet service was introduced, giving customers access to the fastest residential speeds yet.

CVT also reached an important milestone by connecting Jacksonville State University to the fiber network. This partnership helps support the university’s growing connectivity needs while strengthening educational opportunities in the region.

Coosa Valley Propane celebrated an exceptional year in 2025, surpassing 1,000,000 gallons of propane sold while maintaining strong financial performance. The company’s success reflects continued growth, operational efficiency, and the trust customers place in Coosa Valley Propane’s reliable service.

Serving both residential and commercial customers, Coosa Valley Propane remains committed to providing dependable propane delivery, responsive customer service, and tailored energy solutions. CVP continues to meet the energy needs of homes and businesses while maintaining a strong foundation for future growth.

Community involvement is a priority for CVEC and its subsidiaries throughout the year. Representatives from all companies participate in numerous events, including community festivals, parades, local celebrations, educational programs, and athletic events. CVT’s Trunk or Treat event brings together families from across the area for a fun and safe evening of celebration. CVP’s Customer Appreciation Day is an annual event that thanks customers for their support with free food, special discounts, giveaways, and an opportunity to connect with the local team that serves them year-round.

The progress made this year by CVEC subsidiaries reflects the ongoing commitment made to communities, customers and organizations. Decisions are made locally, service is delivered locally, and every dollar you spend with the Cooperative family helps strengthen the communities we proudly call home. We remain dedicated to expanding opportunities, strengthening connections, and ensuring that communities have access to the fiber, propane, and power they need to thrive.
