Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) recently received the prestigious Spotlight on Excellence honor for Best Photo from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
Marketing and Digital Media Specialist Kylie Entrekin snapped the award-winning photo of lineman Jacob Green completing a pole replacement project in late November 2022. The photo first appeared on social media shortly after it was taken then appeared on the cover of CVEC’s February 2023 version of Alabama Living.
The award is CVEC’s 1st national communications honor.
“This entry is exactly what this category is meant to represent. It’s a great photo, and it couldn’t have been easy for the photographer to catch,” 1 judge wrote. “The composition couldn’t be better, and the way it was used as a cover for the magazine also is… close to perfect. Well done.”
Entrekin’s photo previously won Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives’ 2023 Best Photo.
“Kylie is most certainly deserving of a Spotlight award — which is incredibly difficult to win in any year,” says Jeremy Wise, CVEC’s manager of marketing and member services. “Kylie showed great determination and fearlessness to capture this photo, and we’re proud that her work has been recognized on the national level.”
Entrekin’s photo was honored at NRECA’s Connect Conference in Baltimore, Md., in early May.
