CVT, CVEC Sponsor Major Fundraiser for Dovetail Landing

Participants and sponsors raised money for Dovetail Landing's project to build a facility for veterans transitioning back to civilian life.

Veterans in the southern side of Lincoln will soon have a place they can call home while transitioning back to civilian life.

Dovetail Landing — a partnership between Alabama Veteran, a community veterans’ support organization, and military parents Alana and Patrick Centelli — is under construction on 57 acres off Stemley Road. Participants will have access to equine therapy, workforce skills development opportunities and support services that connect them with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs benefits they’ve earned.

In March, Coosa Valley Technologies (CVT) and its parent company, Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC), supported the Dovetail Landing project significantly as the primary sponsor of the Pullin’ 4 Patriots Clay Shoot at Citizens Marksmanship Program Talladega.

“We are very fortunate that a project with such tremendous promise is being constructed in our area,” says Jon Cullimore, CVEC general manager and U.S. Army veteran. “This state-of-the-art facility should help veterans process any service-related trauma they may have and give them the skills and resources to live a fulfilling civilian life.”

Daniel Centelli’s struggle following his service in Afghanistan inspired his parents’ involvement in the project. After sustaining brain injuries during his service, Daniel required his parents’ care for more than 7 years until his passing.

“It has been my mission to bring something about that would have benefited him and his struggle,” Alana says in a video made for Alabama Veteran. “Veterans fought for us. I think it’s time we fought for them.”

CVT provides high-speed internet service for the complex, which includes a computer lab.

“To be able to support such an amazing project financially and with services is a tremendous honor,” says Patrick Harris, CVT’s supervisor of sales and marketing. “Our organization is rooted in community service, and supporting veterans emulates that core principle.”
