Manager’s Comments: A Couple of ‘Thank Yous’

Jon Cullimore is the general manager of Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative.

I love my job, but it can be demanding at times. There’s always another decision to make, another call to return, another problem needing resolution. The work is steady, important, and, at times, unrelenting. It doesn’t leave much room for reflection.

Every now and then, I find myself thinking about the things that don’t make it onto the agenda. No formal updates or reports. Just simple, honest words to the people who make Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative what it is. I’m making the time now to sit down, reflect, and thank those people who are so important to helping us fulfill our mission.

To CVEC Employees:

It’s easy to think of our work in pieces: linework, billing, engineering, dispatch, right-of-way, member services, and administration. We have different roles with different responsibilities, but it works because we have each other.

Every safe restoration depends on planning, training, and execution. Every good member interaction depends on good information. Every mile of line we maintain reflects coordination that most people will never see.

A cooperative is a shared effort, and that’s exactly what we have built at CVEC. We have a team that shows up for one another and the communities we serve. Together, it adds up to something none of us could accomplish alone. I thank you all.

To Our Members:

Summer is approaching, and the Alabama heat can sometimes feel relentless. The temperature climbs, and the air conditioners run with little break. We can take electricity for granted until it’s not there. Then it’s the most important thing in the world.

Please know this: behind every switch you flip, there’s a network of people planning, maintaining, and preparing long before the hottest day arrives. Summer doesn’t surprise us, but it does test us.

We ask for your patience when your power goes out. Summertime storms can be strong, unpredictable, and cause isolated but severe damage.

Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative exists because of you, our members. It belongs to you. Our mission is to ensure our service to you is reliable and affordable. We thank you for entrusting us to fulfill our mission.

The truth is, I can never find enough time to accomplish everything I would like to, and in my hectic, busy days, I can unfortunately never thank those who matter the most enough. But, if you’ve read this far, please consider this my thank you to you and the part you play in helping CVEC be the best cooperative it can be.
