We Honor Those We Can Count On

Things in life we can count on: Time stops for no one, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, springtime is stormy and water flows downhill.
Something else we can count on: When storms roll through and knock out your power, Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative lineworkers will respond quickly to get your service restored.
Each year in mid-April, we designate a day to recognize and honor the dedicated men and women who work so hard to keep our lights on. This year, Alabama has designated April 17 as Lineworker Appreciation Day.
The foundations of our modern society are built upon resilient, reliable electric service. Our digital, connected world cannot exist without electricity, so we know firsthand the immense skill, bravery, and dedication our linemen need. They are responsible for building, maintaining and repairing the electric distribution system that delivers power to all our 18,500 consumers.
Our linemen often work in some of the harshest conditions, especially during stormy weather. While conditions must be safe, they often still must contend with difficult environmental factors such as high winds, rain, hail, and lightning when they’re called upon to restore services.
This makes our linemen the unsung heroes of our communities. Whether responding to storms, repairing outages, or maintaining the miles of power lines that serve our consumers across the 6 counties into which our territory stretches, our linemen work tirelessly to ensure our homes, businesses, and critical services have the power they need.
Their jobs are not only demanding, but they also require extensive and ongoing training, mental focus, physical stamina, and an unwavering commitment to safety.
When storms roll through, our linemen face unpredictable weather, hazardous conditions, and long hours. Their resilience and dedication are not only essential to our way of life but also to keeping our communities strong and vibrant.
On April 17, we will extend our deepest gratitude for the sacrifice and hard work of all our lineworkers. We will be closing the office for a lunch celebration in their honor.
We encourage you, our members, to help us show these dedicated workers our most sincere appreciation in whatever way you feel compelled. A Facebook post or comment, email message, a note dropped in the mail to us, or even a friendly “thank you” can go a long way to helping honor these hardworking individuals.
We thank you for the opportunity to provide you with electric service and hope that your spring is filled with joy.
