Electric cooperatives are typically not flashy, exciting businesses. When you look at companies like Nike, Adidas, Tesla, or Lamborghini, you think of exciting activities. From the most popular sports to the fastest or most technologically advanced automobiles, these companies have created excitement at the very mention of their names.
Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative does not elicit that same level of excitement.
Despite being an energy provider, Coosa Valley Electric actually sells service and reliability. The electric energy can almost be an afterthought. We can walk into any room in our house, flip the switch and the light comes on. We know the electricity is going to be there.
We have told you over the years that our mission is to provide you with reliable electric service at the most affordable rates possible. That is our word.
3 years ago, we also gave you our word that we would build a fiber-optic network and have it ready to deliver broadband internet services to all our members within 3 to 5 years.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to announce that it has been 3 years, and we are nearly finished with our buildout. We are now hanging fiber-optic cable in the last design area that covers our electric distribution system and plan to have it completed by the end of the year. Once it is done and the fiber is spliced, we will be ready to deliver broadband service to all Coosa Valley Electric members.
This includes the business on the main street, your house in a subdivision, or the most distant country farm at the end of our power lines. Call Coosa Valley Technologies to request service, and we will get you connected within weeks.
As I look back over the past 3 years, I am amazed.
I am amazed at the partners who have helped us design and build our second-tonone, fiber-optic network. I am amazed at the dedication, devotion, and hard work of all our employees. They have all helped us get to this point.
But I am truly amazed at you, our members. We gave you our word, and you believed in us. You didn’t believe in us just a little. You overwhelmingly put your faith in our ability to bring you world-class internet service, and we are doing it.
