Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative members are invited to showcase their creativity and love for the community in the “Through Our Lens” photography contest.
The photography contest is open exclusively to CVEC members and offers participants the opportunity to have their original photographs featured in the 2027 CVEC Wall Calendar, which will be distributed during the Cooperative’s Annual Meeting in September.
Winning photographs will also be showcased in Alabama Living magazine, providing regional exposure for selected photographers.
“Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative is built on the strength of our members and the communities we serve, and this photo contest is a wonderful way to celebrate that connection,” said Jon Cullimore, general manager. “We’re excited to see the Coosa Valley through our members’ eyes.”
Members interested in participating must complete and submit an official contest application by visiting here. Applications and photo submissions must be completed online by June 30 to be considered.
One Grand Prize winner will be selected in the photography contest. The Grand Prize winner will receive a $250 bill credit, a CVEC swag bundle and the distinction of having their winning photograph featured on the cover of the wall calendar as well as inside the calendar and in Alabama Living.
Eleven additional winners will also be selected. These winners will receive $50 bill credit and a CVEC-branded promotional item. Their photographs will be featured for one month in the wall calendar as well as showcased in Alabama Living magazine.
All winners will receive recognition on CVEC’s social media platforms, website and a press release.
“Our service area is filled with incredible landscapes, people and moments, and our members capture that beauty every day,” said Jackie Edmondson, manager of marketing and member services and organizer of the photo contest. “This contest gives us the chance to highlight those stories and share them with the entire cooperative family.”
The contest is open to CVEC members who are 18 years or older. All submitted photographs must be original works taken by the entrant and must have been captured within the CVEC service area. Only digital photographs will be accepted, and images must be high resolution with a minimum of 300 dpi in JPG or PNG format. Photos may not include watermarks, borders or heavy filters though minor editing is permitted.
Each member may submit up to three photographs. Entries must be appropriate for all general audiences. Any identifiable individual appearing in submitted photographs must have granted permission to be photographed and images featuring children must include parent consent.
Winners will be notified by July 10. If a selected winner does not respond within seven days of notification, an alternate winner may be chosen.
Submitted photographs will be judged by a CVEC-appointed panel who will base decisions on overall quality, creativity, relevance to the Coosa Valley area and suitability for use in a wall calendar.
All judging decisions are final.
